Questions

Do I need a Yamaha?

No. Varva records the route, distance, time, speed and lean from the phone alone, on any motorcycle. A connected Yamaha adds the bike's own lean, speed and acceleration, and can start and end rides for you.

Which bikes connect?

Yamaha motorcycles that pair with Yamaha's MyRide app. Varva uses the Bluetooth link MyRide sets up, so keep MyRide installed and paired. In Varva, tap Connect bike on the Ride tab.

Where should the phone be?

A jacket pocket works. Varva reads lean from GPS and the gyroscope, so it needs no mount and no calibration. Values estimated by the phone are marked, so you always know which came from the bike.

Does it drain the battery?

Recording keeps GPS on, which uses battery like any navigation app. Longer stops pause the ride and turn GPS down until you ride off again.

Why does Varva ask for location “Always”?

Only if you let the bike start rides: when you ride off, iOS has to let Varva start recording in the background. Otherwise location “While Using” is enough.

How do I stop sharing a ride?

Open the ride, tap ••• and choose Stop Sharing Link. The ride is deleted from varva.app and the link stops working.

How do I move my rides to a new iPhone?

Rides come along in your iPhone backup, or when you transfer from your old iPhone. You can also export any ride as GPX.

Does Varva cost anything?

No. Everything in Varva is free and nothing is locked.
